In this lesson, we had our first go at the practical side of the course, using the cameras in lessons for the first time. We were given the task to construct four different scenes with the camera. We were allowed to use any props that we could find and we were allowed to experiment with the camera by using different angles for different effects.
The first scene that we had to create was a disrupted classroom, we all had a bit of thought and we came up with a way to make the scene look disruptive aswell as realistic. I stood on the table pretending to write things down off the board, while Oli had his feet up on the table on his phone, Matt and Mitch were also on our table and they were having a fight. Kieran took the photo from across the classroom to fit us all in and made sure that he didn't leave any of us unseen or out of view.
The second scene that we had to create was a dentist's waiting room. We used three chairs for Mitch, Matt and Oli to sit on, we gave them magazines to read to give the effect of the waiting room and make it more realistic and i played the role of the dentist. The photo was first taken behind the patients waiting and had me waving one of them in. We experimented and took another photo from behind me, so it made it look as if the camera was the dentist.
The third scene that we created was an office. We used many props to create the office environment, we placed a printer on the table, a plant, paper, pen pots and books. I was standing in front of the table where Mitch, Matt and Oli were sitting. I was holding a whiteboard giving the effect that i was giving out information in a meeting. Oli was sitting by a laptop and being on the phone, something that is usually seen in an office, while Matt and Mitch were taking down notes.
We first took the photo side on, but our second photo turned out to be better as it was taken from behind and make the scene look alot more realistic.
The final scene that we had to construct was a romantic date. We used Matt and Mitch as the loved up couple and we placed them on a table facing one another. We put a plant in the middle of the table to give the effect of decoration and to make it look more realistic. Me and Oli were playing the roles of the restaurant staff, i was taking the orders and Oli was holding up the special's menu.
The first photo was taken facing me and Oli straight on, but the second one we took was a lower angle shot focusing more on Matt and Mitch, making them look like the important ones.
