Today in the lesson we were given a blank storyboard and were told that we had to come up with the photos, camera movement and dialogue for a scene of a women breaking up with her partner.
In my storyboard, i started with an establishing shot of the girl sitting on her own on the sofa, i decided to have no dialogue to create suspense and all you could hear in the background was the ticking of a clock.
The next shot shows the boyfriend enter the room, the camera pans around from the girlfriend to show him entering. Dialogue is used in the shot between the two actors.
The next shot is a two shot showing the boyfriend and girlfriend sitting down on the sofa, dialogue is used between the two, and its in this shot that the girlfriend breaks the bad news.
The camera then has a close up of the boyfriend to show facial expression, obviously the boyfriend is upset and using a close up shows the audience exactly how he is feeling.
The final shot is another close up of the girlfriend, she is also upset about the break up and the close up shot shows her facial expressions, she only says a line of dialogue, simply ' I'm sorry'.
The next task that we got given was a double print sheet talking about the different camera angles and the different shots and angles that can be used when making a film. We read through the sheet together highlighting the important parts. We concentrated mostly on the 180 degree shot in detail and we also watched a short video on youtube explaining what is was and how to use it in film.
The final thing that we were given to do in the lesson was a sheet explaining our first task with the cameras. We had to get into groups of a maximum of 4 and we have to shot a simple short film showing a person walking into a room and sitting down talking to another person. We haven't decided what groups to go in yet but it looks likely that i will be working in a two with Oli. We start our first filming task tomorrow.
