Media Studies Diary-Lesson five.

In today's lesson we had our first go with the cameras. In the last lesson we were given a sheet explaining our task with the cameras, we had to shoot a short film of someone walking into a room and sitting down with another person and exchanging a few words. I decided to work with Oli on the project, so we were issued our camera, tape, and tripod. We went down to S4 to experiment with the camera.
The first thing that we did was put up the tripod, i've never used a tripod before, so i wanted to get to grips with it and get comfortable using it. After we had a go with the tripod, me and Oli experimented with the different angles that we could use on the start of our short clip. The first shot we practiced was the 'opening door' shot. We started off using a close up of the door handle and the zooming out to see a hand appear and push the handle down, we also used a high angle shot for the same thing and also a low angle shot looking up at the door handle. We took it in turns to use the camera and to play around with the angles, we liked the idea of the high angle shot and we wanted to develop on that, so we did quite a few shots of the door handle from up above. We thought that the high angle shot looked the best because it fitted everything in and make the audience look important, looking at something from a high point.
We are carrying on our camera work on Thursday where we will develop on the scene.
